Rozumne rastúce mesto

The book Rozumne rastúce mesto presents a vision of Bratislava as a polycentric city, where life does not take place only in the center, but throughout the entire territory. It focuses on healthy urban development that enhances the quality of life for residents and addresses issues associated with urbanization, such as housing accessibility and urban sprawl beyond the city boundaries.

The publication contains six chapters that analyze the current state of Bratislava, explain the concept of polycentrism, and present specific locations with development potential.

It includes interviews with experts such as Carlos Moreno and David West, and offers examples from both abroad and Slovakia. The final part of the book proposes five steps towards the reasonable growth of the city.

The book was created with the involvement of architect Juraj Benetin from Compass Architekti, urban planner Miroslava Argalášová, and designer Martin Jenča from the Büro Milk studio. They collaborated with experts including Peter Gero, Igor Marko, Milota Sidorová, Peter Bednár, Maria Vassilakou, Martin Šveda, Pavel Šuška, Michal Marcinov, and David West.

The book is intended for a broad audience – from Bratislava’s residents to professionals in the fields of urban planning and architecture – and serves as a practical guide for those interested in the sustainable development of the city. Its aim is to inspire and activate the public, experts, and local governments to think about how Bratislava can grow wisely – becoming more accessible, inclusive, and better prepared for the challenges of the future.
